Man Arrested Over Cutting Off Wifes Both Hands

A man who allegedly cut his wife’s both arms is being held by the Rwenzori East Police. The incident, which took place on Thursday, August 31, was the result of a miscommunication that led to a fight between the husband and wife.

According to Nelson Tumushime, spokesman for the Rwenzori East Police, the pair is based in Kyalanga village, Karusandara sub-county, Kasese district.

He identified the victim, Phiona Muzeyimana, who is still receiving treatment for her injuries at Mount St. Mary’s Hospital, and the suspect as Alan Masereka.

A resident named Jovia Kabugho claimed to have seen blood on the road while on route to the river to get water. ​She searched for individuals to pique her curiosity and discovered them watching at the hapless woman whose arms had been cut.

​We hurried to the hospital after Kabugho remarked, “I told people to help me rescue the life of the old woman.”

Local leader speaks out They have happily lived together with the victim for the past seven years, according to Catherine Ampumuza, chairwoman of Kyalanga Parish LC2.

​Ampumuza claims that Muzeyimana is the mother of over five kids. Tumushime urged everyone to always contact the Police if a disagreement cannot be resolved.
