I&M Bank Opens Ntinda Branch at Former Crane Bank Site

I&M Bank has opened a branch in Ntinda at premises formerly associated with Crane Bank, adding a banking outlet in an area where the location carries a notable financial-sector history.
Crane Bank was placed under statutory management by the Bank of Uganda in October 2016. In January 2017, selected assets and liabilities were transferred to dfcu Bank.
The takeover and its aftermath have since been the subject of prolonged legal proceedings involving former Crane Bank shareholders, including businessman Sudhir Ruparelia, and other parties connected to the transaction.
The allegations in the wider dispute remain contested. Ruparelia and fellow claimants challenge aspects of the takeover and transfer, while defendants have denied wrongdoing and defended the process. The courts have not finally resolved the competing claims.
The opening of I&M Bank’s Ntinda branch gives customers another location from which to access the bank’s services. Further details about the branch’s full service range and operating arrangements should be confirmed directly with the bank before publication if they are needed.
The use of former banking premises by a new operator illustrates how commercial sites can continue serving customers after the institutions once associated with them have changed.
For local customers, the immediate significance is access to another banking outlet; for observers, the address also recalls a chapter of Uganda’s banking history that remains under legal scrutiny.
