Luweero PDM Beneficiary Urges Wise Use Of Government Funds After Dairy Farming Success
The Parish Development Model has transformed the livelihood of Mr. Kiza Fazir, a resident of Wabitungulu Village in Kyetume Parish, Zirobwe Sub County, Luweero District, after he invested the UGX 1 million government seed capital into dairy farming, a venture that now earns him about UGX 20,000 every day.
The findings emerged during a recent Office of the National Chairman (ONC) Parish Development Model (PDM) monitoring exercise conducted in Wabitungulu Village, Kyetume Parish, Zirobwe Sub County, Luweero District, where ONC Regional Coordinator Wasswa Abdulkarim Tamale visited the home of Mr. Kiza Fazir to assess the impact of the government’s wealth creation programme.
The visit sought to evaluate how beneficiaries are utilising the UGX 1 million PDM seed capital and the progress made since receiving the support. During the visit, Kiza attributed his improved household income to the programme and encouraged fellow beneficiaries to invest the funds in productive ventures capable of transforming their livelihoods.
Kiza said he received UGX 1 million under the Parish Development Model and immediately purchased one cow instead of spending the money on short term needs. Through proper management and reinvesting in the project, the single animal has since multiplied into a herd of three cows, significantly improving his family’s economic situation.
Today, the dairy enterprise produces about 20 litres of milk daily, generating an average income of UGX 20,000 each day. He estimates that the project earns him around UGX 600,000 every month, translating into approximately UGX 7.2 million annually, a remarkable return from the initial government investment.
“I am grateful to President Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for introducing the Parish Development Model and remembering ordinary people like us. Before receiving this support, I had limited opportunities to improve my family’s income, but today I can confidently provide for my household through dairy farming,” Kiza said.
He appealed to fellow beneficiaries across the country to embrace the programme responsibly by investing in viable income generating activities rather than diverting the funds to consumption.
“I encourage everyone who receives this money to use it wisely because it can genuinely change lives. If managed well, the Parish Development Model can lift many families out of poverty just as it has done for me,” he added.
Kiza’s progress reflects the growing impact of the Parish Development Model in rural communities, where beneficiaries who invest strategically are steadily building sustainable sources of income. His story also reinforces the government’s objective of empowering households through productive enterprises capable of creating long term wealth and improving living standards.
