Why Grenade Official Was Arrested In China

According to Joram Mukisa, Ugandan singer Grenade Official, whose real name is Deus Nduggwa, was arrested in China for operating a business while on a Tourist Visa.

Grenade, who travelled to China alongside Joram Mukisa, a renowned figure in the entertainment circles, managed to get gigs despite travelling as a tourist to China.

In a video, Joram claims he performed in Guangzhou before being arrested for operating without a work permit.

He stated the Grenade needed a work permit to be authorised to perform in China.

I am here in China. We entered China with Grenade for normal business since this is a business country. When we arrived, promoters gave us some performance opportunities to add some extra income to our pockets. We did the first gig in Guangzhou and it went well.

Grenade found himself performing on a Tourist Visa, yet he had to have a Work Permit to be authorised to perform in China. He has been arrested for operating work while on a Tourist Visa. The laws here are strict.

Joram Mukisa is confident that Grenade will be released as they continue to work with authorities.

“We are trying to engage the authorities who can help us here, but the language barrier is an issue. God willing, we shall get to the bottom of it,” he added.
