Ms Karungi told court that the prosecution requires more time for the Minister of Defence and Veterans Affairs, as well as the Inspector General of Police (IGP), to submit affidavits which she said are critical to the matter before court.

However, the defence team strongly objected to the request, arguing that the concerned parties were duly served with court documents on January 13 and had sufficient time to comply.

The defence further noted that the hearing had already been adjourned from an earlier date to January 27 and insisted that proceedings should move forward without further delay.

Presiding judge, Lady Justice Victoria Nakintu Katamba, heard submissions from both sides and is expected to deliver her ruling on whether to grant the adjournment in due course.

The case remains before the High Court in Masaka.
