Kampala, Uganda – Outgoing National Unity Platform (National Unity Platform) (NUP) MP for Butambala County, Muhammad Muwanga Kivumbi, alongside Nakawa West Lord Councillor, John Mary Ssebuufu, have been further remanded in prison.

The remand follows ongoing investigations into allegations against the two politicians.

Court proceedings earlier this week indicated that the prosecution requested additional time to complete their investigations, prompting the magistrate to extend the remand period.

Supporters of Kivumbi and Ssebuufu have expressed concern over the continued detention, calling for a speedy resolution of the matter.
