Sea Opens New HQ in Singapore, Rebrands SeaMoney to Monee

Sea Limited has launched a new global headquarters for its digital financial services business in Singapore and announced a rebranding of SeaMoney to Monee.

Located at Rochester Commons, the new facility spans 10 floors and over 200,000 square feet.

It is expected to accommodate over 1,000 professionals initially, with room for up to 1,500.

The site will serve as an innovation hub, housing Centres of Excellence in product management, artificial intelligence, and anti-money laundering.

These teams will focus on building deep capabilities in areas critical to the future of financial services.

The headquarters also includes more than 100 collaborative meeting rooms and product innovation spaces, a multi-purpose function hall, and training areas for talent development.

Dedicated floors feature a café and gym designed to support employee well-being and foster a sense of community.

The rebrand to Monee reflects Sea’s efforts to simplify its brand across markets and align its identity more closely with its mission of expanding access to financial services.

The new name also underscores its connection with Shopee, Sea’s e-commerce platform.

Monee operates across Southeast Asia and Brazil, offering services such as digital wallets, payments, credit, banking, and insurtech.

Since its launch in 2014, it has become one of the region’s largest digital financial platforms.

Sea also confirmed the formation of a regional banking group under MariBank, which holds a digital banking licence in Singapore.

This move is part of a broader push to expand financial access across the region.

The launch event was officiated by Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Trade and Industry Dr Tan See Leng.

Forrest Li, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Sea, said,

“Monee will continue to build a future where financial inclusion is a reality for all. The key economic and digital development agencies, such as Digital Industry Singapore (DISG), the Economic Development Board (EDB), and Enterprise Singapore (ESG) have created a thriving ecosystem for tech innovation here.

The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) saw digitalisation as an opportunity to make our financial services sector more vibrant. Our story of homegrown success and subsequent globalisation would not have been possible without the strong support and positive environment provided by our home country,”

Sea’s core businesses include Garena (digital entertainment), Shopee (e-commerce), and Monee (digital financial services).
