NRM’s Faridah Nambi Pledges Empowerment, Innovation To Lift Kawempe North Out Of Poverty

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) parliamentary aspirant for Kawempe North, Faridah Nambi has unveiled a groundbreaking manifesto centered on a “Green Futures” initiative, aimed at transforming her constituency into a model of sustainability and innovation.

Speaking to a crowd of supporters during a campaign walkthrough of Kanyanya, Elisa, Kisalosalo, Nsooba, and Katale zones, Nambi outlined her vision for a constituency powered by renewable energy, waste-to-wealth programs, and youth-led green enterprises.

“Kawempe North has the potential to be a hub of innovation and sustainability,” Nambi declared. “My plan is to create a circular economy where waste is turned into wealth, where women and youth are empowered through green jobs, and where our children grow up in a clean, healthy environment.”

Nambi’s “Green Futures” initiative includes several innovative programs including establishing community recycling centers in every zone, where residents can bring plastic, metal, and organic waste in exchange for cash or essential goods.

According to Nambi, these hubs will also serve as training centers for women and youth to learn skills in recycling, upcycling, and green entrepreneurship.

Additionally, Nambi aims to create solar energy cooperatives, enabling households to access affordable solar power while training young people in solar panel installation and maintenance.

To combat food insecurity and unemployment, Nambi proposes the creation of urban farming cooperatives and vertical gardens in densely populated areas. These initiatives will provide fresh produce for families and generate income for participants.

In a unique twist, her manifesto includes the establishment of green sports academies, where young talents in football, netball, and athletics will be nurtured. These academies will also incorporate environmental education, teaching participants the importance of sustainability. Nambi has also pledged to work with the government and private sector to build eco-friendly infrastructure, including solar-powered streetlights, rainwater harvesting systems, and green public spaces.

Nambi’s campaign received a boost from Hon. Rosemary Seninde, the NRM’s Head of Mobilization, who accompanied her during the walkthrough. Seninde praised Nambi’s innovative approach, contrasting it with what she described as the opposition’s lack of tangible achievements. “For over 20 years, the opposition has been in charge of this area, and what do we have to show for it? Piles of garbage, unemployment, and hopelessness,” Seninde said. “Faridah Nambi is offering something completely different—a vision for a greener, brighter future. She will be your link to the government and the resources you need to transform your lives.”

During her speech, Seninde also addressed recent incidents of violence during the campaign, including the use of tear gas by police.

She condemned the acts and accused the opposition of provoking law enforcement to gain sympathy votes. “We denounce any form of violence in this campaign. The NRM is not involved in these acts, and we condemn them in the strongest terms,” Seninde said.

“However, we have discovered that the opposition is deliberately provoking the police to create chaos and gain sympathy. I urge the police to remain vigilant and avoid falling into this trap. The people of Kawempe North are not looking for sympathy; they are looking for a leader who will work with the government to bring real change.”

Nambi’s “Green Futures” initiative has already sparked excitement among residents, many of whom see it as a refreshing departure from traditional political promises. “This is the first time I’ve heard a candidate talk about turning our garbage into something valuable,” said one resident of Kisalosalo. “Faridah Nambi is offering real solutions, not just empty words.”
