Luweero PDM Beneficiary Turns Shs1 Million Into Profitable Banana Farming Venture
A beneficiary of the Parish Development Model in Luweero Sub Region is earning a stable monthly income from banana farming after investing government support into agriculture, a development that has been cited as a positive example of the programme’s impact during an Office of the National Chairman monitoring exercise.
The progress was witnessed on Sunday when ONC Regional Coordinator for Luweero Sub Region, Wasswa Abdulkarim Tamale, visited Mr. Senyonga Fred at Kasokoso LC1 in Zirobwe Town Council as part of the Office of the National Chairman’s ongoing monitoring of beneficiaries under the Parish Development Model.
The visit was aimed at assessing how recipients are utilizing the funds and documenting success stories emerging from the government’s flagship wealth creation initiative.
Mr. Senyonga received Shs1 million through the Parish Development Model and chose to invest the money in a banana plantation. According to him, the enterprise has steadily grown and now generates an average income of about Shs800,000 every month, enabling him to support his household while planning for further expansion.
Speaking during the monitoring visit, Mr. Senyonga credited the programme for transforming his livelihood and creating a dependable source of income.
“I decided to invest the money wisely in banana farming, and today I am seeing the results. The plantation gives me a reliable monthly income, and my family’s welfare has greatly improved,” he said.
He encouraged fellow residents to embrace the Parish Development Model and make productive use of the funds instead of viewing the programme with doubt.
“I appeal to my fellow wananchi to join the Parish Development Model and invest in projects that can generate income. This programme has the potential to change lives if the money is put to proper use,” he added.
Mr. Senyonga also expressed gratitude to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for initiating the programme, saying it has opened economic opportunities for ordinary Ugandans who previously struggled to access affordable capital.
During the visit, Wasswa Abdulkarim Tamale commended the beneficiary for putting the funds to productive use, describing his achievement as a practical demonstration of what the Parish Development Model seeks to accomplish.
He said the monitoring exercise is intended to evaluate progress on the ground, encourage accountability among beneficiaries, and showcase successful investments that can inspire others within the community.
The Office of the National Chairman has intensified monitoring visits across different regions to assess the implementation of the Parish Development Model and gather firsthand feedback from beneficiaries.
The initiative continues to emphasize productive investment, improved household incomes, and community sensitization as key pillars in advancing the government’s broader agenda of wealth creation and socio-economic transformation.
