Two Injured After Army Shoots at NUP Candidate’s Car in Sembabule LC 3 Elections
As elections for the LCIII position takes place acroos the country, tensions are high in Sembabule Town council, Sembabule district after UPDF soldiers allegedlly shot at the National Unity Platform (NUP) candidate William Kangave’s car injuring two people in the wee hours of Wednesday.
While addressing media on Wednesday, Kangave alleged that two of his supporters, Sekiwa Rogers and Male Meddie were shot at at 3am as they attempted to stop his rival candidate from allegedly distributing money.
Kangave revealed that as they attempted to do so, vehicles with armed soldiers arrived at the scene and allegedlly fired gunshots at his vehicle, a black Toyota Noah injuring the duo.
The Mawogola County Member of Parliament Ms Namugga Gorreth, has revealed that a total of four injured NUP supporters have so far been taken to Masaka Regional Referral Hospital for treatment following the incident.
“The violence in Sembabule Town Council has started in high gear where the Vehicle belonging to the NUP Candidate Kangave William hasbeen shot at and vandalised by Men in Army Uniform” Namugga posted on her X account on Wednesday.
Four candidates are contesting for the Sembabule LCIII seat: Ndibarekera Monica of the NRM, George William Kangave of the NUP, Bishop Jackson Mulungi (Independent), and Ronald Nsubuga (Independent).
