Kampala, Uganda: Ugandan female youth leader and activist Siyemah Atukunda is just a step closer to full clearance to contest in the upcoming NRM party primaries for the National Youth Female Member of Parliament slot (2026–2031), after she picked nomination forms from the party headquarters on Friday.
Speaking to DailyExpress shortly after getting the forms from NRM’s Electoral Commission, the 32nd Deputy General Secretary of the Uganda National Students’ Association (UNSA) declared her ambition to champion a ‘Transformational Youth Agenda‘ that is focused on opportunity, innovation, mental health, and real representation.
“Dear young people of Uganda, today, I officially picked nomination forms from the NRM Secretariat, confirming and expressing my interest to stand in the upcoming party primaries as your National Female Youth MP (2026–2031),” she said.
Siyemah, who also served as Deputy Prime Minister of the 16th Kyambogo Guild Cabinet, added that her candidature was not just about herself, but a symbol of shared vision and empowerment for Uganda’s youth.
“This isn’t just about my name on a form, it’s about our collective voice, our dreams, and our right to be at the table. It’s about us, the young people, taking charge of our future, boldly and intentionally.”

Siyemah vowed to represent young Ugandans across the country by pushing for a practical youth agenda centred around skills development, inclusive leadership, and economic empowerment.
“With your support, I pledge to champion a Transformational Youth Agenda; one that puts skills, opportunities, mental health, innovation, and real representation at the center of national conversation.”
Siyemah faces a tough race that includes, among others, Gold Ikyiriza, Kanyesigwe Mercy, Katusiime Susan, Diana Ampaire Kampe, and Phionah Nakku, all vying for the NRM flag in the August NRM Primaries.

Once elected through the August NRM primaries, Siyemah will be among the youngest candidates seeking to enter the 12th Parliament and represent millions of young women under the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) ticket.
