Kampala, Uganda: Maj Gen Felix Kulayigye has resumed his role as the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) spokesperson following a reported ‘sick leave’, the Ugandan army has confirmed.
The development brings to an end the interim leadership of Col Chris Magezi, who has been serving in an acting capacity during Maj Gen Kulayigye’s absence.
In a formal statement issued Thursday, June 05, Col Magezi confirmed the transition, stating: “The substantive Director of Defence Public Information (DDPI), Major General Felix Kulayigye, has resumed official duties after a short period away on leave. I have ceased to act accordingly.”
Maj Gen Kulayigye, who is widely known for his seasoned military communication experience, returns at a time when the UPDF is actively engaged in various regional peace support operations and national security stabilization efforts.
The UPDF announced the changeover through its official communication platforms, reaffirming its commitment to transparent engagement with both the media and the general public.
His return is expected to bolster the defence force’s media interface, reinforcing coordinated updates on military operations and defence policy matters.
