Kasese Catholic Founded Schools Candidates Sit For Mock Exams

Kasese: About 1,200 students in Catholic founded secondary schools in Kasese district have sat for this year’s Diocesan mock Examinations, the Education Secretary, Rev.Fr.Joseph Mbusa has said.

Out of 24 catholic founded secondary schools only 13 registered for Mock examinations that ended on Friday last week.

Speaking to at his office, Fr.Mbusa said the mock examinations set by Kampala Archdiocese were aimed at building confidence, courage and preparing candidates for UNEB examinations.

He cautioned parents and guardians against the practice of enrolling best students at O and A level to secondary schools outside Kasese district.

“Of the 24 secondary schools in Diocese of Kasese,13 registered for this Mock which was set by Kampala Diocese;which will again mark and release results.This is done to create confidence in the candidates and put them on the same standard with Kampala schools”,Fr Mbusa said.

The Education Secretary said best PLE performers in Kasese should not be taken out of the district,to shools such as MaryHillHigh school n Mbarara,Namugongo,St Mary’s Kyamuhunga in Bushenyi district.

“We want to retrieve this back and demonstrate to parents that we can make it since Kasese catholic-based schools have whatever is required to excel since we have qualifies teaching staff,conducive environment,school bus and van to ease transport and new apparatus for students who do Science subjects”.

Among the Secondary schools that sat for UCE and UACE Diocesan mock examinations are;Kasese secondary, St. John’s minor seminary-Kiburara, St. Theresa girls-Nsenyi, Kuruhe High school, Kitholhu SS, Holy Dove vocational, and St. Charles vocational secondary school.

The Diocese of Kasese was curved out of Fort Portal diocese in 1989. It covers the current administrative district of Kasese and is the smallest in the Ecclesiastical province of Mbarara.

However,it is one of the fastest growing Dioceses in terms of social services.
