Ruparelia Foundation Donates Learning Materials, Sports Equipment to Luweero Girls

The Ruparelia Foundation has donated scholastic materials, sanitary pads and sports equipment to Luweero Girls Primary School as part of an initiative honouring the late rally driver Rajiv Ruparelia. The contribution was intended to address practical needs among learners while encouraging girls’ participation in education and sport.

The supplies included books, reams of paper, pens, pencils and toilet paper, alongside sanitary pads and balls for sports activities. The school’s headteacher, Christine Kigozi, welcomed the donation and said the items would help meet some of the institution’s needs and support learners, particularly girls.

Kimera Stewart, who led the foundation team during the handover, said the initiative was intended to keep alive Rajiv’s spirit of supporting young people. He also encouraged parents and teachers to make it easier for girls to take part in sport, saying participation can build confidence and discipline while helping pupils discover their talents.

Community leaders highlighted the relationship between access to learning materials, menstrual hygiene and school participation. For some pupils, shortages of basic supplies can make it harder to concentrate on lessons or take part in school activities. The donation was presented as a practical contribution towards those needs rather than only a commemorative gesture.

The visiting team also planted a tree at the school in Rajiv’s memory. The tree gives the visit a lasting marker, while the supplies are intended to provide immediate support to pupils and teachers.

Rajiv, the son of businessman Sudhir Ruparelia, died in a road crash in May 2025. The motorsport fraternity and his supporters have continued to honour his memory through events and charitable initiatives. The Luweero outreach formed part of a wider memorial programme connected to a motorsport competition in Gulu.
