Bukonzo West MP aspirant and State Minister for National Guidance, Hon. Godfrey Kabbyanga officially launched his campaigns at Mpondwe Primary School in Bwera, Kasese District drawing over 1,000 enthusiastic supporters. The event marked the official start of his bid to represent Bukonzo West a constituency that has long been under opposition control.
Kabbyanga is contesting for the NRM flag in the 2026 General Elections facing off against Dr. Chrispus Kiyonga the current Chancellor of Makerere University.
In his pursuit of the constituency seat, Kabbyanga has been traversing the county engaging residents and rallying support. He pledged to prioritize youth empowerment especially in sports and entertainment and called on voters to embrace government programs aimed at alleviating poverty.

He also highlighted ongoing projects, including the extension of public Wi-Fi in Kasese District which he said would soon be completed.

During his visit, women leaders shared that they are involved in savings and credit, caterin and handcrafts. Kabbyanga advised the groups to focus on long term financial sustainability rather than short term distribution of savings.
“These women save and then share the money at the end of the year; I’m discouraging that. They should instead use their savings for credit,” he said. “If the treasurer dies, sometimes the money disappears. That’s why opening bank accounts is crucial.”
He pledged to support the groups with piglets and agricultural inputs to boost household incomes and productivity.
Kabbyanga also undertook another uphill journey this time using a four-wheel vehicle to reach Lyakirema Village, Nyakiyumbu Subcounty. Locals had gathered in anticipation eager to voice their concerns.

One key issue raised was the poor road network which hampers the transportation of agricultural produce. Kabbyanga promised to lobby for increased funding to rehabilitate roads, emphasizing that Kasese requires special consideration due to its challenging terrain.
He encouraged residents to embrace government initiatives and explore alternative business models beyond agriculture. Kabbyanga reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with the community to foster harmony and peaceful coexistence.
