Over 100 international Delegates renounce previous Affiliations and Follow Owobusobozi Bisaka

In a striking display of religious transformation, more than one hundred international delegates—including pastors, sheikhs, and former traditional healers—gathered in Kagadi District to publicly renounce their past affiliations and pledge allegiance to the Faith of Unity, a religious movement led by Omukama Ruhanga Owobusobozi Bisaka. The event unfolded over two days during the annual celebration of Owobusobozi Bisaka’s 96th birthday, held at the Faith of Unity’s international stadium in Kyalubayinga, Muhorro Subcounty.

The gathering, which drew followers and curious observers from across Africa and Europe, was more than a birthday commemoration; it marked a symbolic shift in the spiritual trajectories of prominent religious figures. Delegates from countries including DR Congo, Ghana, Germany, South Africa, and Ethiopia stood before thousands of believers to publicly denounce their previous practices—some of which involved sorcery, drug trafficking, and exploitative religious leadership.

Among the most notable voices was Aduluj Julius, a former Pentecostal pastor from Congo who once oversaw a network of over 70 churches globally. “I lived a lie,” he confessed during his address to the crowd. “We deceived many in the name of miracles, relying on spirits that were not from God. But here, I have found truth and peace.” Julius’s testimony echoed those of several others who spoke candidly about the manipulation and personal gains they pursued under the guise of spirituality.

Equally gripping was the renunciation by Jean Adu, a renowned witch doctor from Ghana’s Bole District, whose shrine attracted thousands seeking spiritual intervention. Adu, once revered and feared for his rituals, shared that he had long harbored a desire to abandon his old path. “This is the day I have waited for,” he said solemnly. “I now walk in light and unity.”

The event was graced by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, who served as the chief guest, a gesture that underscored the deep ties between the Faith of Unity and Uganda’s political leadership. Owobusobozi Bisaka, a longtime mobilizer for the ruling NRM party, used the occasion not only to induct over 1,100 new members into the faith but also to urge them to lead by example in their communities. He emphasized self-reliance through agriculture, small-scale industries, and the strict observance of the Faith of Unity calendar, which guides followers on matters of development and morality.

Symbolism and substance blended throughout the celebration. From cultural performances to solemn moments of spiritual commitment, the atmosphere was one of renewal. Notably, the Kakabara Bukwenda Diocese emerged as the standout during the offertory session, contributing a record 668 million shillings in appreciation and support for the Faith’s mission. Additional financial gifts—amounting to millions—were presented to Owobusobozi Bisaka, highlighting both his spiritual influence and the loyalty of his followers.

As the ceremony drew to a close, it was clear that the event had etched a historic chapter in the movement’s legacy. For many attendees, the mass conversion and the testimonies that accompanied it were a powerful endorsement of the Faith of Unity’s growing appeal. While skeptics continue to question the movement’s foundations, for those who stood on that stadium stage in Kagadi, the decision to follow Owobusobozi Bisaka was a declaration of conviction—and, as they believe, a step toward redemption.
