Dr. Sudhir’s Paradise Island Resort Nears Completion, Promises Luxury Getaway On Lake Victoria
By Gad Masereka
Munyonyo, Uganda: Paradise Island Resort, the long-anticipated luxury retreat on Lake Victoria developed by businessman Dr Sudhir Ruparelia, is entering its final stages of construction, with developers confirming that structural works are now 95 percent complete.
The resort promises to offer a first-of-its-kind island experience in Uganda, targeting honeymooners, leisure travelers, and corporate groups seeking privacy and exclusivity just 20 minutes by speedboat from Speke Resort Munyonyo.
Construction on the project began in May 2021 as part of a broader vision to enhance Uganda’s tourism appeal and attract both domestic and international visitors.
Nestled on 19 acres of pristine island land, Paradise Island Resort is designed to blend modern luxury with the natural beauty of Lake Victoria, featuring cliff cottages, executive villas, and eco-conscious landscaping that highlights the surrounding bird-rich environment.
The project has been led by Ms Sheena Ruparelia, daughter of Dr Ruparelia, whose vision has transformed the island into a contemporary, eco-friendly destination intended to rival leading hospitality offerings in the region. “We wanted to create a sanctuary that brings together comfort, nature, and a sense of escape from the bustle of city life,” she said.
The resort’s accommodation portfolio reflects careful attention to detail and design. Guests will have a choice of 10 standard cottages, 11 cliffside cottages with sweeping lake views, 14 deluxe two-bedroom units, and three executive villas offering maximum seclusion. Every unit has been positioned to make the most of the lake’s panoramic vistas and the tranquil ambience of island living.
Beyond luxury lodgings, Paradise Island Resort is set to appeal to nature enthusiasts and bird watchers.
The property is bordered by a rocky islet that hosts indigenous trees and a thriving bird population, creating an ecosystem that invites photography, birding tourism, and wellness-focused retreats.
Paradise Island Resort adds to a growing portfolio of high-end hospitality projects developed by the Ruparelia Group, which includes Kabira Country Club, Speke Resort Convention Centre, Kingdom Hotel, and Ssese Beach Resort.
Its completion is expected to further elevate Uganda’s standing as a regional tourism destination while strengthening the group’s presence in the country’s hospitality sector.
With final touches underway, the resort is poised to open soon, offering visitors a unique combination of luxury, seclusion, and the natural allure of Lake Victoria, setting a new benchmark for premium tourism experiences in Uganda.
