In a nail-biting showdown at the Nkaiga Playground, Hima Town Council emerged victorious in the 6th edition of the Busongora North Champions League on Monday, defeating Ibanda Kyanya Town Council in a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw.

The tension-filled final, witnessed by the Chairman LC5 of Kasese District, Eriphazi Bukombi Muhindi, kept the fans on the edge of their seats. The match concluded with a 1-1 scoreline, leading to a dramatic penalty shootout where Hima Town Council secured their victory with a 5-4 win.

The opening match of the tournament between Ibanda Youth and Kitswamba Lions ended in a 1-1 draw, setting the stage for an intense competition throughout the championship.

In the netball category, Maliba Town Council’s Netball team emerged as the champions after a hard-fought battle against Hima Town Council, finishing with a scoreline of 17-11.

Hima Town Council’s remarkable victory earned them a grand prize of Shs 2 million, while the gallant runner-up, Ibanda Kyanya Town Council, walked away with a consolation prize of Shs 1 million.

The Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament was Hanging Bwambale from Vision SC, showcasing exceptional skills and contributions throughout the competition. Omutuju from Hima Town Council claimed the Top Scorer title with an impressive tally of 7 goals.

Isule United secured the third position, receiving a prize of Shs 500,000, while Vision SC settled for Shs 200,000 after finishing in fourth place.

The Busongora North Champions League has once again provided an exhilarating platform for local football enthusiasts, with Hima Town Council etching their name in the tournament’s history as the reigning champions.
