Tragic: Man Hangs Self Inside LC1 Chairman’s Visitors Room
Abel Tugumizemu, age 41, a resident of Nyabihoko Cell in Nyamigoyi Parish, Kanyantorogo Subcounty, has been reported as having committed suicide by hanging by the police in Kanungu District.
Elly Maate, a spokesman for the Kigezi Regional Police, confirmed the incident and emphasized that the deceased went to the house of the local LC 1 chairperson, Benson Rwabihogo, to complain about people following him. Because it was late, the chairperson gave the deceased a room to sleep in while he waited to solve his problem in the morning.
The following morning, Tugumizemu was found hanged in the same room, according to Maate. The body was removed from the rope, the police were called, they arrived on the scene, a postmortem was performed, and then the body was given to the family to be buried.
To aid with the investigation, the crime was reported to the Kanungu District Central Police Station under reference number CRB 339/2023.
