MP Ferigo Praises Cooperation Among Leaders For The Success Of World Bank-Funded Infrastructure Programme In Kasese Municipality

Kasese Municipality Member of Parliament,Hon Ferigo Kambale has hailed the good performance in the World Bank-funded Uganda Support to Municipal Infrastructure Development programme (USMID) attributing it to cooperation amongst leaders from different political affiliations.
During the monitoring and inspection of roads being constructed under USMID,Ferigo thanked governing for constructing such good roads.
He noted that his cooperation with the Municipal Mayor His Worship Chance Kahindo Sibyabugha is the reason why such development is taking place
Ferigo noted that in other municipalities,there are leadership wrangles and infighting over control of USMID funds.
He said street lighting will boost night business operations,tourism and improve security in the municipality.
About the Drainage Masterplan,the Legislator noted that though the town usually faces a challenge of flooding during the rainy season,under USMID a masterplan has been drawn especially on Mboghoyabo road to ensure that all water channels are well connected so that flood water does not disturb residents.
“Am also going to meet landlords and land owners to allow Contractors pave a proper drainage channel to control surface run-offs”,said Hon Ferigo.
Martin Safari,the LCIII chairperson for Central Division in Kasese Municipality who hailed China Railways 18 construction Company,the contractors undertaking the construction works noted that 33.6 billion shillings injected into the project will boost business activities and development.
He urged public to remain calm,pay tax and uphold public health to keep Kasese municipality clean.
Engineer Bosco Twesigye,the site Engineer forChina Railways 18 construction Company said they were contracted to work on 4.3KM of road and that so far 70% of the work is already done and is confident that by 31st December 2023,they shall have completed all works.
Eng Bosco noted that 3rd Street,Kitalikibi,Park Rise,Bus Circular,Stanley,Margaret and Rwenzori roads are almost complete hailing residents for exhibiting a cordial relationship with them.
However, The Light Paper has learnt that the Company was awarded an extra 1.3 KM of road to construct in Central division after some funds,about 11 billion shillings would remain unused as balance after completion of construction works.Some of the additional raods include,Crescent road
Meanwhile, construction works for 1.4km Mpoghoyabo road worth 16b shillings by Techno 3 Uganda limited is at 72.3% but work is expected to be complete by 31st August 2023.This road starts from Bam petrol station and stretches up to Nyakasanga townboard.
Kasese Municipality was ranked the second in the whole country and the best in western Region in the implementation of USMID project.
