One Person Dies In A Car Accident At Mbale-Tororo Highway

One person has died in a crash on the Mbale-Tororo highway. The accident that occurred at 6 am in the municipality of Bisu involved a Tororo Cement truck registered UBA 127M with limestone. The deceased was identified as Awali Etongo, who drove the truck.
His rookie boy Deo Opio was injured and rushed to the Mbale Regional Reference Hospital in critical condition. The truck was driving toward Tororo from Kapchorwa.
Emma Wafukho, an eyewitness at Bisu’s town council said the truck didn’t turn at the sharp corner. He says the truck lost control, overthrew the guardrail.
Wafukho reported that residents rushed to the scene to rescue the occupants, but the driver had already died.
Francis Opio, another eyewitness says the sharp corner has turned into a black spot. He says that three separate accidents occurred in the region and claimed the lives of six people.
He wants the National Roads Authority of Uganda-UNRA to suppress the sharp corner.
