No Money Can Silence Me: Biira Juliet Defies Rumors, Vows To Fight For Bundibugyo’s Forgotten Voices

By Gad Masereka

Kampala, Uganda – Bundibugyo district parliamentary hopeful Biira Juliet made her political ambitions clear today as she confidently collected her nomination papers at the National Resistance Movement’s Electoral Commission offices in Kampala.

Speaking to The New Light Paper shortly after picking up the forms, she dismissed whispers that she had been paid to drop out of the race, laughing off the claims with unshaken resolve. ‘Let them say what they want,’ she said, her voice steady. ‘No one can buy my silence when my people need representation

Her candidacy, she explained, is rooted in a commitment to championing the struggles of Bundibugyo’s marginalized communities, mothers grappling with inadequate healthcare, fathers burdened by unemployment, and youths stifled by limited opportunities.

“For too long, these groups have been left behind,” she said, “If elected, I won’t just speak for them; I’ll deliver tangible change.”

That change, she outlined, hinges on prioritizing education reform, upgrading dilapidated road networks, and ensuring hospitals are equipped to serve the district’s growing needs.

She also promised Swift service delivery, which she emphasized, will be non-negotiable. “People are tired of bureaucracy. They want action, and that’s what I’ll bring,” Biira asserted.

Addressing the issue of economic transformation, she also vowed to closely monitor government programs like the Parish Development Model (PDM), ensuring funds reach intended beneficiaries rather than “vanishing into pockets and berries of those in offices.”

Appealing to voters to stand behind her, Biira declared, ‘This isn’t about me—it’s about Bundibugyo’s future—but I can’t do it alone; stand with me, and together, we’ll rebuild this district,’ making clear as the race heats up that she’s in it to win it, undeterred by rumors.”
