Today, the Office of the National Chairman (ONC), led by Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo, gave Buganda Kingdom a Ugx50 million financial boost in anticipation of Kabaka’s upcoming birthday run.
The marathon, with the theme “Men are stars in the fight against HIV/AIDS to save the Girl Child,” is set for Sunday, April 7, 2024.
The run has been centered around the fight against HIV/AIDS for the past three years, with this year being the second.
As she gave the money to Charles Peter Mayiga, the Katikkiro of the Kingdom, Hajjat Namyalo made it plain that National Chairman of the NRM, HE Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, was directly supporting this. She claimed that during their brief encounter this week, she persuaded the president to support the Kabaka’s marathon cause, and he was delighted.
“I met with the National Chairman in Rwakitura earlier this week, and I informed him that your bazzukulu in Buganda Kingdom are planning Kabaka’s birthday run, which aims to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS and stop its spread. He was pleased with this and told me to come and give support,” Namyalo said, pleading with all the bazzukulu to keep Museveni on the ballot.
The Buganda Kingdom events, such as the birthday run, masaza cup, and luwalo, have received a great deal of support from ONC. Katikkiro Mayiga praised Hajjat Namyalo in his speech, stating that the Chief Muzzukulu had shown the Kingdom such great assistance on several occasions.
Hajjat Namyalo has supported us before, so this isn’t the first time she’s come. We’re thrilled that you’ve rebounded back this year with the help of Ugx50m for the run, Katikkiro remarked. Mayiga also praised President Museveni for the work his administration has done to combat AIDS.
.”When HE Yoweri Museveni took office in 1986, he was able to speak the same language that we do now—a language focused on combating HIV/AIDS. Thus, without government assistance, we are unable to fight this war on our own,” Katikkiro remarked
