Fatal Accident Leaves Two Dead and Several Trapped in Kampala

Kampala Metropolitan Police are currently carrying out a thorough search of the wreckage of two vehicles following a tragic accident that left two people dead and at least scores  injured. Deputy spokesman KMP  Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed that emergency services are still working to rescue any individuals potentially trapped within the wreckage.

The accident occurred  today evening  in Namboole,  Kampala, causing chaos and disruption to traffic in the area. The exact cause of the accident is yet to be determined, and investigations are ongoing.

“So far, we have confirmed the deaths of two individuals, and three others have sustained injuries,” stated Assistant Superintendent of Police Owoyesigyire. “The injured individuals have been hurriedly transported to Mulago Hospital for immediate medical attention. As the scene remains active, it is difficult to ascertain if the death toll will continue to rise.”

Eyewitnesses at the scene reported a harrowing sight, describing the wreckage of the vehicles as extensively damaged. Several individuals were seen trapped inside, prompting the urgent response from law enforcement and emergency personnel. 

Local authorities have advised commuters to avoid the area as they work diligently to remove the wreckage and clear the roadway. Traffic diversions have been put in place to minimize further disruptions.

Kampala Metropolitan Police are urging anyone with information about the accident or its causes to come forward and assist with their investigation. Eyewitness accounts and any available CCTV footage will be crucial in determining the circumstances leading up to the collision.

The families of the deceased individuals have been notified, and grief counselors have been made available to support them during this difficult time. The injured victims will receive medical treatment and ongoing care as necessary.
