Joint security operations conducted across the Kampala Metropolitan area have resulted in the arrest of 90 suspects linked to various criminal activities, including robbery, narcotics trafficking, and theft.

The operations, carried out on Thursday, March 5, 2026, were coordinated by the Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) in collaboration with other security agencies as part of an intensified crackdown on crime within the city and surrounding districts.

According to police authorities, the operations were intelligence-led and targeted several areas previously identified as crime hotspots.

Security teams conducted coordinated raids in different parts of the metropolitan area in an effort to dismantle criminal gangs believed to be behind a series of robberies, thefts, and illegal drug distribution networks.

Police said a number of suspects were arrested during the operations after being found in possession of suspected narcotic substances and items believed to have been stolen from members of the public.

The exhibits recovered during the raids are expected to play a key role in ongoing investigations.

Officials noted that the security operations form part of broader efforts by law enforcement agencies to address rising concerns about criminal activity in urban areas, particularly crimes linked to organized gangs and drug trafficking.

The suspects are currently being detained at various police stations across the Kampala Metropolitan area as investigations continue.

Police indicated that once investigations are completed, those found with a case to answer will be formally charged and arraigned before the courts of law.

Authorities also emphasized that the operations were conducted to restore public confidence and ensure the safety of residents and businesses operating within Kampala and neighbouring districts.

Police have urged members of the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by reporting suspicious individuals or activities in their communities.

They stressed that community cooperation plays a vital role in preventing crime and supporting law enforcement efforts.

The Kampala Metropolitan Police reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining law and order and warned that similar operations will continue to be carried out across the region in order to eliminate criminal networks and improve security for all residents.
