Lt.Kob: Another Victim of Diana Kampe’s Twitter Smear Campaign.

In the swirling currents of Uganda’s political arena, where ambition often dances a dangerous tango with deceit, a troubling trend has taken root. Diana Ampaire Kampe, a name now whispered with equal parts intrigue and infamy, has cast her net wide, ensnaring yet another innocent in her web of allegations. The latest to be caught is Lieutenant Kob, a steadfast officer of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), whose only sin seems to be his unyielding loyalty to his family, particularly his in-law, Hon. Mercy Kanyesigye. As the old saying goes, “A man’s home is his castle,” but for Kob, even this sacred sanctuary has been stormed by Kampe’s relentless campaign of character assassination, waged viciously on the battleground of social media, particularly Twitter.

Lieutenant Kob, a man whose dedication to duty shines like a beacon in the UPDF, has found himself dragged into the mire of baseless accusations. His wife, the eldest sister of Hon. Mercy Kanyesigye, ties him to a family that has long been a pillar of support for Mercy’s academic and political journey. Kob, a quiet force behind Mercy’s success, provided guidance and encouragement, helping her navigate the rocky terrain of academia with the steady hand of a seasoned mentor. Yet, this noble act of familial loyalty has been twisted into a narrative of scandal by Kampe’s camp, who employ masked bloggers to wreak havoc on Twitter, spinning falsehoods faster than a weaver’s loom to tarnish Kob’s reputation.

The allegations against Kob, splashed across Twitter’s digital landscape, are as flimsy as a house of cards in a windstorm. Does Diana Kampe’s group deny Kob the right to support his in-law privately? The answer is a resounding yes. They have cast a shadow over his personal commitment to family, painting it as some sinister plot. But let’s set the record straight: Kob does not campaign on behalf of the UPDF. His role as a military officer is one of service, not political puppetry. Is he a voter in this political circus? No! Is there a shred of evidence that Kob has harassed the youth, as Kampe’s camp might insinuate? Absolutely not! The accusations are as hollow as a drum, echoing with malice but lacking substance.

This is not the first time Kampe’s camp has played the blackmail card on Twitter’s volatile stage. Like a broken record, they have targeted individuals with promising careers, dragging their names through the mud to score political points. The UPDF leadership should not be hoodwinked into believing these Twitter-fueled allegations against Kob are true. The list of those unjustly targeted by Kampe’s smear tactics reads like a who’s who of Uganda’s public sphere: the President’s brother, Toyota Kaguta; the respected Kirunda Farouk; Molly Kamukama, and many others have all been victims of this vicious cycle of defamation, their names dragged through Twitter’s murky waters by faceless bloggers hired to sow discord. These examples stand as a clarion call to exonerate Kob, whose name has been unjustly added to this ignominious roster. As the proverb warns, “A lie travels halfway around the world before the truth puts on its shoes,” and Kob’s promising career must not be derailed by falsehoods that have already claimed too many reputations.

Mercy Kanyesigye, a respected figure in her own right, has family and relatives ; a God-given gift that no one can choose or reject. As the saying goes, “You can’t pick your family, but you can pick your fights.” Kampe’s camp has chosen the wrong fight, targeting a family’s private bonds to fuel their Twitter-driven drama. Why drag a good officer like Kob into this quagmire? Why tarnish a man whose only fault is standing by his kin? The answer lies in a desperate bid for relevance, a tactic as old as politics itself: when you can’t climb the ladder, pull others down.

The youth of Amolatar, who recently rallied behind Kampe with endorsements, deserve better than to be pawns in this game of character assassination orchestrated by masked bloggers. Kob, a man of integrity, has never been linked to any harassment or misconduct. His service in the UPDF is a testament to discipline and honor, not the chaos Kampe’s camp seeks to project. To tarnish such a man is to throw pearls before swine, wasting the potential of a promising officer for the sake of cheap Twitter clout.

In the grand tapestry of life, family is the thread that holds us together. No one submits an application to God for the relatives they are given, yet Kampe’s camp seems intent on punishing Kob for the family he holds dear. This is not just an attack on one man; it is an assault on the very bonds that define us. As the dust settles, let us hope that truth, like a river, will carve its way through the lies peddled by Twitter’s shadowy operatives. Lieutenant Kob deserves better. His name, like those of Toyota Kaguta, Kirunda Farouk, Molly Kamukama, and others before him, should be cleared of this baseless smear.
