Uganda Announces Squad For FIBA AfroBasket 2025 Qualifiers

The Federation of Uganda Basketball Association has unveiled the 13-man squad set to represent the country in the upcoming FIBA AfroBasket 2025 Qualifiers. Known as the Silverbacks, Uganda’s men’s basketball team is gearing up for a fierce competition as they vie for a spot in the prestigious tournament.
Drawn in Pool B alongside formidable opponents Cape Verde, Nigeria, and the winner of Zones 1+2 Pre-Qualifiers, the Silverbacks are poised for intense battles on the court.
The AfroBasket 2025 journey kicks off with Window 1 on February 23, with teams from Groups B, D, and E convening in Egypt and Tunisia. This marks the beginning of a thrilling tournament that will see 20 nations compete for glory.
To secure a place in the AfroBasket 2025 tournament, teams must clinch a top-three finish in their respective groups, spanning two rounds of intense competition.
Leading the charge for Uganda are standout players such as Ivan Muhwezi, Baale Fayed, and Titus Odeke from City Oilers, alongside other talented individuals including Tony Drileba and Mugerwa Stanley. The coaching staff, headed by Lutwama Mandy Juruni and Senyondwa Andrew Tendo, is dedicated to guiding the team to success.
The road to AfroBasket promises to be challenging, but the Silverbacks are ready to showcase their skills and determination on the international stage. With a talented roster and expert coaching, Uganda aims to make its mark in African basketball and inspire fans nationwide.
