Philanthropic Boost: ONC Manager Hajjat Namyalo Donates Ugx10m, Empowerment Tools To Uplift Uganda Muslim Women’s Economic Ventures
By Gad Masereka
In a gesture of philanthropy, the Office of the National Chairman (ONC) manager, Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo, has generously donated Ugx10 million to the Uganda Muslim Women Association for Dawa and Development (UMWADD) Sacco. The donation was made during the Association’s Annual Women Seminar and Quran recitation competitions, held at Kiyindi mosque in Nankulabye.
During the event, Namyalo not only contributed financially but also offered Umrah to the winner of the Quran recitation competitions, Hahwa Muhammad from Kiboga. Hajjat Janat Asia, the Association’s patron, took the opportunity to request Namyalo’s assistance in acquiring soap-making equipment to enhance their income-generating activities.
Janat expressed the challenges faced by the Association, stating, “Our members have no jobs, and although we started a soap-making business, we are hindered by the lack of modern equipment.” She appealed for support, emphasizing the need for equipment to boost their earnings.
Responding to the request, Namyalo assured the Association that the ONC has an abundance of equipment and tools. She pledged to provide them with all the necessary support, encouraging them to formalize their Sacco registration. Namyalo emphasized that this formality would facilitate access to funding and government empowerment programs for all members.
“I will get funders to run that Sacco. Our dear president is ready to support you, and every other person who is organized,” Namyalo affirmed.
True to her word, Namyalo led Association members out of the mosque after her speech and surprised them with a generous donation of empowerment tools worth millions. The donated equipment included spraying machines, popcorn machines, seeds, gum boots, sewing machines, groundnut crushing machines, chips making machines, salon machines, and more.
While handing over the donations, Namyalo urged the recipients to use the equipment judiciously to generate income for their families. She emphasized the importance of responsible utilization and conveyed the message that the tools were meant to uplift families from poverty.
“We have given you these donations; please make sure you don’t misuse them. Use them to generate income for your families. Museveni wants a poverty-free country, and that’s why he sent you all these equipment,” Namyalo concluded, leaving a positive impact on the empowered women of UMWADD.”
