Renowned city billionaire and Ugandan Consul to Nepal, Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia, has officially confirmed the completion and readiness of the state-of-the-art Speke Resort Convention Centre, poised to host the 19th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and the Group of 77 (G-77) summits. The eagerly awaited facility is scheduled to be inaugurated on January 10, 2024, in anticipation of the forthcoming international gatherings.

The Speke Resort Convention Centre, an impressive extension of the iconic Speke Resort Munyonyo, is set to welcome over 120 heads of state during the NAM summit, scheduled to take place from January 15 to 19. The subsequent G77+China summit is slated for January 21-23. The events mark a significant moment for Uganda, as the country plays host to global leaders seeking non-alignment with major superpowers.

According to insider sources, Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia revealed the completion date following an extensive inspection by President Museveni, who expressed full confidence in the billionaire’s track record of meeting construction deadlines with exceptional quality. During his visit last month, President Museveni was given an exclusive tour of the modern multipurpose Convention Centre, featuring high-end conference meeting rooms and a 4,000-seater auditorium.

The newly constructed Convention Centre boasts a main hall capable of accommodating 3,800 people and includes 12 breakout session rooms. Additional features include a suspended restaurant with a panoramic view of Lake Victoria, creating a picturesque backdrop for high-level discussions during the summit.

Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia, no stranger to successful Public Private Partnership projects, previously delivered the Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort in 2007, which hosted the Commonwealth Heads of Governments Meeting (CHOGM). The Centre has since become a preferred venue for numerous high-profile meetings over the years.

The Non-Aligned Movement, founded in 1955 during the Asian-Africa meeting in Bandung, Indonesia, has been a beacon for countries seeking decolonization and pursuing an independent stance from both Eastern and Western power blocs.

As the world eagerly anticipates the opening of the Speke Resort Convention Centre, Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia’s commitment to excellence and timely delivery continues to shape Uganda’s landscape, providing a platform for global dialogue and cooperation.
