Uganda Government Boosts Emergency Medical Services With 116 Ambulances

Kampala, Uganda – In a significant effort to enhance emergency medical services, Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja has flagged off 116 type B ambulances to various constituencies across the country. This initiative is part of the government’s commitment, led by the National Resistance Movement (NRM), to establish a comprehensive National Ambulance System that ensures timely responses to medical emergencies.

During the flagging-off ceremony, Prime Minister Nabbanja emphasized the significance of the National Ambulance System in saving lives and providing prompt medical assistance to those in need. The distribution of ambulances to constituencies marks a momentous step towards achieving the government’s commitment to improving emergency response services nationwide.

According to the Prime Minister, 64% of the constituencies and all Regional Referral Hospitals now possess type B ambulances. This milestone showcases the government’s dedication to equipping medical facilities with the necessary resources to effectively and swiftly respond to emergency situations. The establishment of call and dispatch centers will further bolster the capabilities of the National Ambulance System, ensuring coordinated and efficient emergency response across the country.

The distribution of ambulances demonstrates the NRM government’s prioritization of healthcare and commitment to improving access to medical services for all Ugandans. The new fleet of ambulances will undoubtedly contribute to reducing response times and providing critical care to those in need, particularly in remote areas.

The availability of ambulances in every constituency will play a crucial role in saving lives during medical emergencies, including accidents, childbirth complications, and other urgent health crises.
