Traffic Police Name Kampala Roads To Be Closed Tomorrow As Museveni Celebrates His 79th Birthday
As President Museveni celebrates his 79th birthday at the Kololo independence grounds tomorrow, a number of Kampala highways will be closed to traffic.
The National Coordinator in the Office of the NRM National Chairman, Hadijah Uzeiye Namyalo, is leading a group of young people organizing the president’s 79th birthday celebration.
At least 100,000 people are expected to attend the birthday celebration, according to Kampala Metropolitan Traffic Police Commander Senior Superintendent of Police Godwin Arinaitwe, who released the traffic flow plan on Thursday afternoon.
“We anticipate receiving approximately 100,000 visitors from across the nation. We ask the general people to exercise caution while also observing the traffic laws because there have been brief disturbances in the flow of traffic, according to Arinaitwe.
The Kampala Metropolitan traffic police commander claims that traffic would proceed normally at the Golf Course traffic lights in the direction of Acacia Avenue, but there will be a detour around Upper Kololo Terrace, Elgon Terrace, and Lower Kololo Terrace, which will only be accessible to VVIPs.
If you’re coming from Bombo Road, Arinaitwe advised you to take Old Kira Road, the Lugogo Bypass, and park at the KCCA grounds beside Shoprite. If you’re going from Jinja, she advised you to park at the UMA show grounds.
“If you’re coming from the Entebbe side, you can use the Lugogo bypass, the Kampala Road, the Jinja Road traffic signals, and the KCCA grounds. The Yusuf Lule road, the Golf Course traffic signals, the Nakumatt, the Jinja road traffic lights, and the Wampeewo roundabout can be used by those traveling from Nansana, and they can park either the KCCA grounds or the UMA show grounds.
The Prince Charles Drive traffic flow plan specifies that traffic will be rerouted through Archer Road Junction, up to Jinja Road Police Station, and back onto the main road.
“We urge everyone to follow this traffic flow plan and other rules.”
