Nile Breweries Mbarara plant wins national atmosphere sustainability award

Mbarara, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Nile Breweries Dinky’s Mbarara Brewery has been recognised by the National Atmosphere Administration Authority (NEMA) for its prominent dedication to sustainable manufacturing practices in Uganda throughout the 2025 National Atmosphere Sustainability Awards, it talked about on July 9.

Held below the theme “Fostering Cleaner Manufacturing to Arrive Sustainable Model in Uganda,” the awards effectively-known organisations that are main the skill in environmental compliance and innovation.

The Mbarara Plant obtained the tip honour below the Manufacturing Sector in the Alcohol Processing Industries category, reaffirming the brewery’s consistent efforts to carve encourage environmental influence whereas making improvements to operational efficiency.

The Jinja Plant, which used to be also nominated, emerged because the second runner-up in the same category and used to be awarded a Certificate of Recognition for its essential strides in environmental sustainability. This twin recognition highlights NBL’s wide dedication to accountable and sustainable production across all its operations.

Speaking whereas receiving the award, Emmanuel Njuki, Appropriate and Corporate Affairs Lead at Nile Breweries Dinky, effectively-known that the award is a testament to NBL’s prolonged-standing dedication to sustainability.

“Sustainability is no longer any longer apt part of our alternate; it is a responsibility to the communities we encourage,” effectively-known Njuki.

Because it started operations in 2013, the Mbarara brewery has made foremost strides in water efficiency by investing in in style water medicines and recycling programs. These programs enable for the purification and reuse of water within the production process.

The plant has also adopted high-efficiency cooling programs and computerized controls to optimise energy consumption.

The National Atmosphere Sustainability Awards are held every 365 days below Uganda’s National Atmosphere Act (Cap 181) to reward excellence in sustainability across sectors and are geared in direction of recognising and galvanizing participants and institutions committed to preserving Uganda’s pure heritage by innovation, advocacy, and team of workers-led rush.
