Preliminary police reports confirm an attempted robbery at Equity Bank in Soroti district. It is reported that on 23rd April 2024, unknown individuals attempted to access the bank but fled the scene after failing to enter the banking hall.
A joint task force from the police and UPDF responded swiftly, deploying to the bank to assess the situation. According to the police, no one was injured, and no property or money was stolen. A security guard and their supervisor were lawfully arrested and interrogated as part of the ongoing investigations.
The bank has resumed operations, and the police assure the public that the general security situation in Soroti city remains peaceful and calm.
