Bugema University Mourns The Passing Of Deputy Vice-Chancellor For Academics, Prof. Paul Katamba
Luwero, Uganda – The Bugema University community is grappling with sorrow and sadness following the untimely demise of Prof. Paul Katamba, who served as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academics (DVC-Academics). Prof. Katamba passed away on Tuesday evening, leaving behind a void that is deeply felt within the university.
The news of his passing was officially announced by Dr. Pr. Kafero Israel, the Vice-Chancellor of Bugema University, who expressed the institution’s condolences. “Bugema regrets to announce the passing away of Prof. Katamba. May the good Lord strengthen the family and all of us,” said Dr. Kafero Israel.
Prof. Katamba had been on sick leave since August of the previous year, and during his absence, Mr. Mugheno Leonard, the Registrar of Bugema University, assumed the responsibilities as the acting DVC-Academics. The university community had hoped for Prof. Katamba’s recovery, but his passing has left a lasting impact on those who knew and worked with him.
In the wake of this loss, Bugema University has appointed Dr. Rosette Kabuye as the new Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academics. Dr. Kabuye, a 48-year-old Ugandan with a strong academic background, previously served as the Dean of the Graduate School at Bugema University’s Kampala Campus. Her appointment is seen as a strategic move to continue the university’s commitment to academic excellence and growth.
As Bugema University prepares for a new chapter under Dr. Kabuye’s leadership, details regarding Prof. Katamba’s burial arrangements remain unconfirmed at the time of filing this story. The university community and stakeholders are awaiting further information as they come to terms with the loss of a respected academic leader.
