Subheading: Police Investigate Harrowing Incident Resulting in Three Robbers’ Deaths

Makindye Ssabagabo, Uganda – In a harrowing incident that unfolded in Ndejje Kibutika Village, Makindye Ssabagabo Municipality, Wakiso District, residents took justice into their own hands as they mobbed to death three armed robbers who attacked a field sales team on Thursday evening.

According to reports, at approximately 6 pm, a group of armed robbers targeted a field sales team from Shana Distributors Ltd, Kikuubo, in a violent robbery. The victims, identified as Haruna Galabuzi (driver), Patricia Babirye (salesperson), and Henry Mfitumukiza (offloader), were ambushed during routine product distribution, and the assailants demanded money at gunpoint.

Deputy spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP), Luke Owoyesigyire, revealed that despite warning shots, the assailants shot Patricia Babirye in the leg and made off with approximately 20 million Ugandan shillings from the vehicle. The criminals fled on a motorcycle with registration UES 820K.

A prompt response from the victims and members of the community led to a pursuit, resulting in the robbers abandoning the motorcycle. A group of local residents and riders in Namasuba apprehended the suspects, leading to a confrontation where the suspects were beaten.

Tragically, two of the robbers, identified as Mark Bakka and Brian Ssemanda from their identification and voters cards, succumbed to injuries at the scene. Another robber passed away upon arrival at Mulago Hospital.

Police have recovered the alleged robbery weapon, securing it as evidence, but the stolen cash remains unrecovered, believed to have been taken by members of the public during the confrontation.

Injured victims, including Patricia Babirye, are currently receiving medical attention, and detailed statements on the incident have been documented by the police.
