Mbarara, January 9, 2024 — The Rwizi regional and Mbarara district territorial police are intensifying investigations into the horrifying double murder of Ainembabazi Ruth, an 18-year-old S.6 vacist, and her mother Bashaba Frascisco, a 49-year-old peasant. The brutal incident occurred on the night of January 5, 2024, at Nsiika cell, Ntura parish in Mbarara district.

According to the preliminary findings, the victims’ mother visited her brother in Nsiika cell in the company of her daughter. During the visit, she received a call from her husband, Musinguzi Deus, aged 55, with whom she was reportedly not on good terms. Following the call, the mother and daughter returned home and were not seen until January 6, 2024, when concerned residents discovered their lifeless bodies in their house. Both victims had suffered fatal head injuries caused by a blunt object.

The police swiftly arrested three suspects in connection with the gruesome murders. The suspects include the husband, Musinguzi Deus, the stepson, Ainemukama Julius, aged 25, and the co-wife, Kyohairwe Rosemary, aged 50. The trio had made the last calls to the victims before their untimely demise and were reportedly behaving suspiciously.

The motive behind the murders is believed to be linked to existing family disputes and wrangles. Investigations are ongoing to unravel the circumstances leading to this tragic incident.

SCP Enanga Fred, the Police Spokesperson, strongly condemned the murders, emphasizing the need for respect within domestic settings and urging spouses to avoid taking the law into their own hands. The community is left in shock and mourning as the police work tirelessly to bring justice to the victims and shed light on the events that led to this brutal double homicide. The authorities call for cooperation from the public in providing any relevant information that could aid in the ongoing investigations.
