Tragic Car Accident Claims Four Lives on Nakapiripirit – Mbale Road
In a devastating incident on the Nakapiripirit – Mbale road, a fatal car accident has claimed the lives of four individuals, including a foreign national, and left several others seriously injured. The incident took place on December 22, 2023, involving an Isuzu FSR motor vehicle registered as 608F, which overturned while transporting bags of charcoal and metal scraps.
The deceased have been identified as Karim, a male adult and prominent businessman from Sironko District; Alice, a female adult and wife to Karim; Umar, a male adult from Mbale District; and Abako, a female adult from South Sudan. The tragedy unfolded when the vehicle lost control and overturned, resulting in the fatal injuries of the occupants.
Emergency services were quickly on the scene, and seven severely injured individuals were rushed to Mbale Hospital for urgent medical attention. The injured victims are currently receiving medical care, and their conditions remain critical.
Preliminary investigations by the authorities point to over speeding as the primary cause of the accident. Mike Longole, the spokesperson for Karamoja Police, stated, “We visited the scene and established the cause of the single fatal accident as over speeding.” The police have extended their condolences to the families of the deceased and issued a stern warning against reckless driving.
