Over 40 Million Raised To Support Buhuhira Primary School Construction Projects In Kasese

In a recent development, Hon. Alice Kaboyo, the Minister for State for Rwenzori-Luweero Triangle Affairs, and Kabbyanga Godfrey Baluku, the Minister of State for ICT and National Guidance, inspected the construction progress at Rukoki Health Centre IV.
The Outpatient Department (OPD) and staff quarters, being constructed by the UPDFEngineering Brigade is set to be completed by March 2024.
This development aims to provide improved housing for healthcare workers, enhancing efficiency at the hospital while they operate within the vicinity of the hospital.
It is important to note that a fundraising campaign was initiated after a fire destroyed the maternity ward. The facility’s renovation efforts are underway, with the roofing completed and other construction activities in progress.
The ministers also visited Buhuhira Primary School, where they led efforts to raise 116.8 million.Ugandan Shillings for the construction of four classroom blocks. The existing school structuresare insufficient to accommodate the growing number of students seeking education.
During the visit, Hon. Alice Kaboyo, as the Chief Guest, announced a total contribution of 43million Ugandan shillings in cash and pledges, along with 200 iron sheets.
These materials will be handed over to the UPDF Engineering Brigade for the construction project. Hon. Kaboyo pledged the government’s commitment to building a three-classroom block and a three-stance latrine in the next fiscal year, 2024/2025.
Minister Kabbyanga Godfrey Baluku encouraged residents to continue supporting the NRM government in its mission to provide essential services to the community.
Buhuhira, represented in Parliament by Hon. Sowedi Kitanywa (NRM), expressed gratitude for the minister’s visit, acknowledging the significant work done by both Hon. Kaboyo and Hon.
Kabbyanga.
The minister’s visit has instilled hope and excitement among local residents, who eagerly anticipate the implementation of these proposed development projects. These efforts to Enhancing education and healthcare infrastructure in the area will undoubtedly have a lasting positive impact on the community’s well-being and future prospects.

Buhuhira holds historical significance as a site for the NRA liberation struggle, serving as a rebel camp for the movement, including Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame and Uganda’s Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
Kasese district’s leadership oversees more than 240 government-aided primary schools, with118 schools are located in hard-to-reach areas, accommodating 68,513 learners.
