ONC Boss Meet Katonga Veteran’s Families Ahead Of 8th September Celebrations
By Gad Masereka
Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, ONC manager has addressed to a group of Katonga veterans and their sons and daughters.
Hajjat Hadijah reassured the veterans during her speech that President Museveni had chosen to recognize their commitment to the NRA bush war, which helped the NRM win power in 1986.
In the months running up to the fighters’ triumphant arrival in January 1986, when they overthrew Gen Tito Okello Lutwa, Katonga played a crucial part in the last stages of the NRA bush war under President Yoweri Museveni.
The ONC will make sure they attend the Katonga celebrations scheduled for September 8 at Kololo Independence Grounds, she further pledged, adding that she would convey their complaints to President Museveni.
In front of the veterans, who occasionally applauded her during her speech, Hajjat Hadijah made the commitment to return with household income-generating goods like sewing machines, chickens, hair dryers, and hair cutting equipment that ONC has been distributing across the nation.
It was told in horrifying detail by one of the warriors, only known as Kasasa, who had previously been declared dead, how the decisive Katonga War resulted in the conquest of Kampala in January 1986.
Additionally, Major Muwanga gave the head of ONC a tour of the renowned R. Katonga. She addressed a press conference on the banks of the river, invoked the spirits of the place, and renewed her pledge to Katonga.
