Kasese Deputy RDC Tasks Private School Owners To Hire Security Guards As Way Of Improving School Security

Kasese District deputy Resident District Commissioner RDC Lt. Matte Magwara has tasked private school owners to start employing at least three trained security guards as a way of improving students’ and Pupils’ security at school.

Lt Magwara, who is in charge of Bukonzo County, made the appeal on Thursday afternoon while addressing private school owners at Kasese Multi-Purpose hall during the meeting that was organized by National private Teachers Association.

It follows security threats after Mpondwe Lhubiriha Secondary school attack that left 44 people including 38 students killed by suspected ADF.

Lt Magwara urged private school owners in Kasese district to consider security as one of the key aspects in their schools, adding that they should also have aspects of information sharing and fence their respective schools as a way of improving security. 

The National private Teachers Association’s 3rd National Chairperson Hassan Kirabira, requested private school owners to improve on training security guards and their school matrons.He asked schools to work on lighting system among others. 

He condemned the attack on Mpondwe-Lhubiriha SS as a bad and demonic and condoled with affected families. 

George Mayinja, the Kasese District Education officer challenged school directors to work on their school sanitation if they are to have and produce health candidates.

Meanwhile,The 3rd National Chairperson for National private Teachers Association Hassan Kirabira has directed all private school directors in Kasese to form security committees in their schools in order to tighten security mechanisms.

The directive was made yesterday afternoon during private Teachers meeting at Kasese Multi- Purpose Hall.

Hassan noted that it is their mandate to have school security committees that should sit every week with school board members to help them lay strategies to protect both learners and school leaders.

He called upon the directors to install cameras within and around their schools. 

After the meeting Hassan together with other national delegates from National private Teachers association visited Mpondwe Lhubiriha Secondary school that was attacked recently by suspected ADF rebels.
