54 Students Netted At Smoking Festival In Nansana
54 students who were taking part in a smoking festival held in Kibulooka, Nansana West Ward, Nansana Municipality, and Wakiso area have been detained by the police.
Residents of Kibulooka called the police after hearing too much noise coming from the students’ celebration.
According to Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, the police in Lubigi searched the house where loud music was being played after receiving a distress call.
He claims that when the police arrived on the scene, they found the students smoking shisha, chewing Khat, and ingesting other intoxicants.
All of the students were discovered to be in possession of Old Kampala Secondary School ID cards. They are being held at the Lubigi police station while we try to find their parents and communicate with their school, according to Owoyesigyire.
William Ssuuna, the head teacher of Old Kampala Secondary School, did not return calls, making it unable to get in touch with him for comment.
However, the police announced that they intended to file drug possession and noise pollution charges against the students.
It has happened before that students have been detained for breaking the law while attending house parties.
The police conducted a search of a house in Bukoto during the COVID-19 lockdown and discovered students doing drugs, drinking alcohol, and having sex there. The majority of the pupils engaged ranged in age from 13 to 17.
