UCU Student Shot Dead By Private Security Guard
Rudeny Agaba, 25, a student at Christian University, was killed by a private security guard.
Luke Owoyesigyire, the deputy spokesperson for the Kampala Metropolitan Police, reported that Tugume Kadili shot and killed Agaba on Sunday at the Meru gas station in Kiwanga, Mukono district, at 1:00 p.m.
Owoyesigyire makes a brief speech in which he claims that early research indicates that Agaba and Kadili had a disagreement.
The dead allegedly tried to scale a brick fence inside the security guard’s allocated territory, which escalated the incident. In reaction, the security guard fired his gun, striking the victim fatally,” he claimed.
Agaba, according to him, was quickly taken to the Gwatilo health center, where he was tragically declared dead. Two expended gunshot cartridges were found at the scene, according to him, after authorities arrived quickly.
“An army green car with the license plate UAW403S was nearby and had what appeared to be a bullet hole. In addition, a gun believed to have been used in the shooting was found. Live ammo was discovered close to the alleged bloody area. All of these items were taken as evidence, according to Owoyesigyire.
He claims that Tugume was detained by police as a major suspect as part of the continuing investigations and that he is now being held at the Seeta police station.
“The Mukono Police Division is completely committed to carrying out a thorough investigation into this unfortunate tragedy. We ask the public to exercise patience and calmness as we carefully compile all the required information, he said.
The incident occurs barely a month after Dismas Tebangole, commander of the Mukono counterterrorism police, shot and injured Natasha Nagayi, a 21-year-old UCU student. Nagaya is said to have been shot as she attempted to enter Tebangole’s home under the impression that it was the home of her boyfriend.
