The Uganda Police Force has launched an investigation to ascertain the circumstances under which Steven Kabuye, a 25-year-old Human Rights activist and employee of Coloured Voices Media Foundation in Lukuli, Buziga, was attacked and stabbed by unknown assailants. The incident occurred around Makandwa, Lumuli parish, Kajjansi Town Council, as Kabuye was on his way to work.

Kabuye’s account reveals that two unidentified men on a motorcycle, wearing helmets, approached him, stopped, and the passenger dismounted, attacking him with the intention of slashing his throat.

However, Kabuye defended himself by shielding his neck with his right arm. The assailants, unable to reach his neck, instead stabbed his hand. Despite running away, they pursued him, ultimately stabbing him in the stomach, leaving the knife lodged in his abdomen. As he raised an alarm, the assailants fled, leaving him unconscious.

Prompt response from residents led to his transportation to the clinic, where he was quickly taken to the operating room to extract the knife from his stomach. Police detectives visited him at Namulundu Medical Centre in Bwebajja, where they found him leaving the operation room. The police recovered the knife as evidence.
