The prestigious 2nd G-25 Africa Coffee Summit (ACS), which will serve as a platform for displaying the continent’s enormous coffee potential to the globe, will be held in Uganda.

From August 7 to 10, 2023, the conference with the theme “Transforming the African Coffee Sector through Value Addition” will be held at Speke Resort Munyonyo. It is organised by the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry, and Fisheries (MAAIF) in partnership with the Inter-Africa Coffee Organisation (IACO).

Heads of State, Senior Government Ministers, Heads of College Authorities, Senior Ministers from African Coffee-Consuming Countries, and African private sector groups including farmers, processors, exporters, roasters, and Coffee Associations will attend the summit of the 25 African countries that produce coffee.

The summit’s major goal is to maintain agreement on a proclamation designating coffee as a strategic good in line with the African Union’s (AU) agenda 2063.

The summit will also be based on encouraging value addition and domestic consumption, the Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA) said in a statement released on Thursday.

This will be accomplished by spreading awareness of coffee’s health benefits, developing regional trade in coffee under the auspices of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), and disseminating information about the imminent threat that climate change poses to coffee, as well as the impact that the global pandemic COVID 19 has had on the coffee industry from seed to cup.

Uganda has the unparalleled opportunity to promote its coffee to several African nations and strengthen economic integration thanks to the privilege of hosting the 2nd African Coffee Summit. The first G-25 African Coffee Summit took place on May 25, 2022, in Nairobi, Kenya.

The summit aims to advance the coffee business on the continent by bringing together leaders and professionals from the global coffee industry in the heart of East Africa.
