Bobi Wine Says Security Operatives Confiscated Family Academic Records, Land Titles in Magere Raid

National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, has revealed that security operatives who raided his Magere residence last night confiscated his and his family members’ academic documents, land title deeds, and other critical personal records.

In a statement released on Friday, Kyagulanyi said the documents were taken during what he described as a violent and unlawful raid conducted by armed, masked soldiers who stormed his home under unclear circumstances.

He noted that the seizure included academic certificates belonging to several family members, land ownership documents, and other sensitive paperwork vital to their personal and legal affairs.

Bobi Wine expressed concern over the intentions behind the confiscation, questioning why personal documents unrelated to any criminal investigation would be taken during a security operation. He warned that the act amounts to harassment, intimidation, and a violation of the family’s fundamental rights

.“This is not just an attack on me as a political leader, but on my family and our right to safety, privacy, and property,” Kyagulanyi said, adding that the raid had left family members traumatized.

The opposition leader further accused state security agencies of escalating political persecution against him and members of the NUP, especially following the recent elections.

He argued that the targeting of personal documents signals a dangerous trend of using state power to intimidate political opponents beyond lawful limits.

There was no immediate response from the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) or police regarding the allegations by press time.

The incident has already sparked outrage among opposition supporters and human rights activists, who are calling for the immediate return of the confiscated documents and an independent investigation into the conduct of the security operatives involved.

Kyagulanyi said he would continue to document and publicize what he termed as abuses against him and his family, insisting that intimidation will not deter him from pursuing democratic change in Uganda.
