Kampala – The recent concerns surrounding the development initiatives led by Dr. Hamis Kiggundu, particularly allegations of trespassing on Catholic property, have sparked public debate. In response to these claims, city leaders are providing a robust defense, affirming that all projects are fully compliant with regulatory standards.

According to an official statement, the development plans in question, including those linked to the Hamz Nakivubo Stadium project, were approved by the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA). The KCCA is responsible for overseeing all development activities within the city, ensuring that projects align with urban planning regulations and community interests.

“These developments have received the necessary approvals from KCCA, the regulatory body responsible for overseeing city development,” the statement reads, emphasizing that any allegations suggesting unauthorized development are inaccurate. The statement further noted that the regulatory process ensures that all required permits and compliance measures are met before any construction begins.

Supporters of Dr. Kiggundu’s projects argue that they are a vital part of Kampala’s infrastructure development. The Nakivubo Stadium initiative, in particular, is seen as crucial for the city’s growth, as it promises to enhance local amenities, provide job opportunities, and contribute to the city’s overall development strategy.

The statement also addressed concerns regarding the environmental impact of the projects. While recent flooding events in the area have raised questions, officials argue that attributing the floods solely to the ongoing developments is an oversimplification. “We must understand that the flooding issue is part of a larger environmental challenge facing the entire country,” the statement explained, urging for a comprehensive approach to addressing such concerns.

The spokesperson for the development team emphasized the importance of collaboration between investors and local communities, encouraging dialogue to foster mutual understanding and support. “Let us embrace the opportunities that responsible investments bring, as they are instrumental in shaping a prosperous future for our city,” the statement concluded.

As the projects move forward, officials are calling for continued community engagement and transparency, urging residents to support the ongoing development efforts that are poised to transform Kampala into a modern, thriving city.
