By Gad Masereka
Uganda’s youngest rap sensation, Patrick Ssenyonjo, known to fans as Fresh Kid, has expressed his deep gratitude to the Ruparelia Foundation for supporting his education at Kampala Parents’ School. The young artist, who was granted a full scholarship by the foundation five years ago, is now preparing to sit for his Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE), a major milestone in his academic journey.
Speaking at a farewell event held to honor Primary 7 candidates, Fresh Kid shared his appreciation for the Ruparelia Foundation’s generosity. “This scholarship has changed my life. I’m so thankful to Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia and the foundation for giving me the chance to balance school with my music career,” he said.
The event, attended by parents, teachers, and special guests, included a blessing ceremony led by Archbishop Stephen Kazimba. The Archbishop encouraged students to trust in their abilities and reminded them that they are supported by both family and faith. Citing Deuteronomy 31:8, he assured the candidates that they are not alone as they face this important examination, instilling confidence in Fresh Kid and his peers.
In addition, Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi, the Presidential Advisor for Youth and Children Affairs, showed her support by sending Fresh Kid a success card. She praised his hard work and commitment to education, urging him to continue prioritizing his studies. “Fresh Kid, you have inspired so many young people in Uganda. Remember to value your education as much as your music,” she advised.
Kato Daphne, Principal of Kampala Parents’ School, commended Fresh Kid’s dedication to both his studies and his music career. “He has shown remarkable discipline and focus, and we are proud of all he has achieved,” she said, expressing confidence that he and his classmates will excel in the upcoming exams.
As Fresh Kid embarks on this new chapter, he serves as an example to Ugandan youth, demonstrating that with hard work and the right support, young people can succeed academically while pursuing their passions. His journey highlights the impact of the Ruparelia Foundation’s commitment to empowering Uganda’s youth through education.
