Trailer Loses Control, Overturns & Catches Fire In Middle Of The Road
In a concerning turn of events, the Uganda Police Traffic Directorate has reported a single but significant road traffic crash at Muduma in Jezza along the Kampala-Mityana Road. Kananura Michael, the spokesperson for the Traffic Directorate, disclosed that the accident, involving a tailor’s trailer, has effectively severed the road, causing widespread disruption to commuters.
According to Michael’s statement, the trailer lost control, presumably due to brake failure, resulting in a dramatic overturning and subsequent ignition, engulfing the vehicle in flames. The severity of the incident led to the complete blockade of the road, leaving motorists stranded and commuters facing extensive delays.
“This is a challenging situation, and we urge the general public to exercise patience as our teams from Traffic Police, the fire brigade, and local law enforcement work tirelessly to clear the wreckage and secure the highway for safe passage,” urged Kananura Michael.
The obstruction poses a significant inconvenience to road users, with authorities emphasizing the need for caution and cooperation during the clearance efforts. The incident underscores the importance of road safety measures and the unpredictable nature of traffic accidents, even on well-traveled routes.
As efforts continue to remove the wreckage and restore normalcy to the affected stretch of road, commuters are advised to seek alternative routes where possible and to heed instructions from traffic authorities on the ground.
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the critical role played by emergency response teams in managing such crises and highlights the resilience required in navigating unforeseen challenges on the roadways.
