Ugandan man kills wife for denying him

In a shocking turn of events, police in Arua district have apprehended a 48-year-old man for allegedly murdering his wife after she denied him conjugal rights.

According to Mr. Fred Enanga, the police spokesperson, investigations have revealed that the couple had been experiencing difficulties in their marriage due to the wife’s accusations of her husband’s extramarital affairs.

“We have in custody Agunda James, a 48-year-old resident of Obaru cell, Ombokolo ward, for the assault and murder of his wife, Chandiru Judith, aged 23, on the night of March 1, 2024, over the denial of conjugal rights,” stated the police’s official statement.

Enanga further elaborated that the tragic incident unfolded when the suspect engaged in a quarrel with his wife, leading her to sleep separately from him on another mattress. In a fit of rage, the husband pursued her and physically assaulted her, resulting in fatal injuries.

“The angered husband followed and grabbed her, hit her around the ribs, and she succumbed to the injuries,” he added.

Following the heinous act, the suspect voluntarily surrendered himself to the police, taking responsibility for his actions.

This harrowing incident sheds light on the importance of addressing marital conflicts through peaceful means and underscores the devastating consequences of resorting to violence in domestic disputes. As investigations continue, the community mourns the loss of Chandiru Judith and calls for justice to be served swiftly.
