Tragedy Unfolds: Policeman Fatally Shoots His Boss In Tororo Drinking Joint Dispute

A somber investigation is underway in Tororo District, eastern Uganda, as police detectives delve into a horrifying incident where a policeman shot and killed his superior following a dispute at a local drinking joint on the night of January 31.

The shocking event occurred around 9 pm in a popular spot in Petta Sub County, Tororo District. The two officers involved, identified as Senior Inspector of Police Moses Okwele and Officer William Ochom, were both stationed at the Petta Police post.

According to Bukedi South Regional Police Spokesperson, Mr. Moses Mugwe, the dispute that led to the fatal shooting allegedly revolved around a disagreement over a barmaid. Eyewitnesses revealed that Okwele left the premises quietly after the altercation but returned moments later armed with an SMG Rifle.

In a tragic turn of events, Ochom, reportedly feeling threatened, fired multiple shots at his senior colleague, fatally striking him in the stomach. The incident resulted in Okwele’s untimely demise.

“It’s unfortunate that we lost the officer, but we have initiated the investigation to ascertain the real cause of the shooting. We pray that the officer who shot dead his colleague survives to help us get to know why they got involved in a disagreement,” expressed a grieving Mr. Mugwe.

The lifeless body of Senior Inspector Okwele was discovered lying in a pool of blood, marking a devastating end to the dispute that unfolded in the Petta Sub County drinking joint. The police spokesperson emphasized the urgency of the investigation to unravel the true motives behind the fatal shooting.

As the community grapples with the shock of the incident, questions linger about the circumstances that led to such a tragic escalation between colleagues. The police force awaits the results of the investigation to shed light on the sequence of events and factors that led to this unfortunate and unprecedented loss within their ranks
